Best of the Best 2014

It may have officially been the Year of the Rooster, but for us at My Kind of Chicago, it was the Year of the Goat. Here’s a round-up of our favorites in 2014, with the “Goat Restaurants,” as my mom would call them, sweeping every category they qualified in:

What to Get: Caribbean Jerk Kale Salad, Sweet Potato Fries, Oatmeal Creme Whoopie Pie
Best Fast Casual: 
Goddess and Grocer
What to Get: Magic Mushroom, Carolyn’s “Make Your Own” (wheat wrap with hummus, avocado, roasted tomatoes, portobello mushrooms, caramelized onions, and spinach)
Best Brunch: 
Little Goat Diner
What to Get: Bull’s Eye French Toast, Spanish Omelette
Best Tacos: 
Big Star
What to Get: Al Pastor, Margaritas, Guac, More Margaritas
Best Atmosphere: 
Green Street Smoked Meats
What to Get: It doesn’t matter, you’re here for the atmosphere, remember? ((but actually the brisket, broccoli salad, and coleslaw))
All this, and we’ve only been up and running for 5 months! We’re so excited to try many new dishes in 2015 and can’t wait to share them with you all. Until then, wishing you all a happy and delicious start to the new year!
